Guides and Getting Started
Over the recent weeks I have been putting together various guides for workshops and advice for people who wish to work in watercolour, gouache, and acrylics. There is a link for each one I have put them all here for easy download…
Watercolour is a wonderful medium; light, lively, and occasionally a bit mischievous. It rewards patience but also embraces happy accidents. https://timbaynesart.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/96/2026/05/Watercolour-One-Pager-.pdf
The “if I could only have a handful of tubes” moment. Think of it like packing for a painting holiday: travel light, mix everything. A strong starter acrylic palette doesn’t need to be huge — it needs to be versatile. 10 colours are suggested here. http://content/uploads/sites/96/2026/05/Acrylics-if-I-could-only-have-a-handful-of-tubes-.pdf
Gouache is a delightful companion to watercolour. Think of it as watercolour’s more confident cousin—still water-based, but opaque, matte, and wonderfully forgiving. You can paint light over dark, correct things easily, and build solid shapes.https://timbaynesart.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/96/2026/05/Gouache-Guide.pdf
